Vampire

Vampire folk law seems to be very popular at the moment, we have The Twilight Saga movies that seem to be coming out every few months and on Television we have The Vampire Diaries and Tru Blood. I have enjoyed both of these; The Vampire Diaries is produced by Kevin Williamson who is best known for Scream 1, 2, 3 and the upcoming Scream 4, I Know What You Did Last Summer and Dawson’s Creek. I would say he has mixed the best all his past work up to use in this series. Like the Twilight Saga, The Vampire Diaries is based on a series of books which I understand are now all best sellers.

True Blood is darker, graphic and sexual. I wonder why Vampire stories have become popular again. Previously we had Buffy the Vampire Slayer, again this was one of my favourite shows what must be now almost ten years ago as was its spin off Angel. You can still watch them (in the UK) on channels such as FX, Syfy although I think it now looks dated, whatever happened to Sarah Michelle Gellar, last I saw of her she was getting attached my some demon spirit monster ghost in the remake of the great Japanese film The Grudge.

So what else has there been either now or in the last few or even longer years;

Being Human – Good BBC show

Nosferatu vampire
Nosferatu
Blade
Interview with the Vampire – Great film
Count Duckula
The Littlest Vampire – kids show I remember funnily enough when I was a kid
Dracula
Queen of the Damned
The Forsaken – I almost forgot about this movie, stared one of the guys from Dawson’s Creek and another from Roswell.
Van Helsing (movie)
Van Helsing – really bad ITV programme trying to attract the BBC Doctor Who / Merlin crowd
Underworld – wish they kept this going
From Dusk Till Dawn – A fantastic move
The Lost Boys – 80’s classic
Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)

They say the best Dracula is Nosferatu made in 1922.

Soon, I hope to have a comments section so that you can add you own thoughts to the subject.
