TED Here is the first offical college short film made for the horror project. The basis is that of an opening of a horror film to set up the premise, that being a stressed-out teacher who goes off and kills someone, however it turns out that he was influenced by someone who wants to help called 'Ted' hence the title of the film. It began with a workshop lesson trying to think up pemises for the beginning of horror films, we all had our own ideas for a horror film, but my idea was the chosen. After tha job roles we're made for each one of us: David Bloomer and myself were made directors, then later on 'stars' of the project taking on the roles of the two main characters of the project, Jack Gale and Mel Thomas were made producers and finally Adam Best was writer and cinematographer. With roles decided we began production. Fo pre-prodction we storyboarded the three main scenes of the film to give an idea of what we were looking for, after that we continued with other production work that included prop lists, equipment lists, hazard analysis and even a call sheet so we could cover all our bases for when filming came along we had everything prepared, with that said we set off filming. The first scene we filmed was the park scene, we decided this as it required the most shots and it was the messiest by far as it was the murder scene as well, it was going to get bloody. We shot all that we wanted in a day and filmed the murder shot last for continuity reasons, for similar reasons we shot the last scene next so the blood would still be on the shirt from not being washed. Before we could film this scene we had a problem, we had an actor lined up to be Ted but he never showed up, so I at the last minute had to dress up and learn the role in a matter of minutes, which led to many outtakes and only one or two good ones. The last scene was the most complicated, not because it was difficult, it was because it took 3 days, we filmed all the shots we wanted and filming was offically over, we could now begin the post-production process. Editing began on the last 3 weeks of the term, with so much footage to go through it was a long process to go through, sorting out the sound bumps as well as adding sound fx that was appropiate for the scene. As I was finishing my cut of the film, everyone had to do their own cut of it, I decided that if I added a soundtrack it could add to the impact of the film, after doing some searching I used some the soundtrack to the computer game Half-Life 2, which I felt reflected some of the moments really well in some of scenes. The only other problem I had was when it came to burning the film to DVD, I couldn't do it with problems relating for wrong DVD type as well as the FS6 going down, I finally managed to burn it after Christmas and handed it in with my coursework on the horror project as well as all my other production work.
